How home tuition safety works

For each home visit you get a sheet that says who is coming, which checks they passed and on what date, and how the door code works. Read it before the teacher arrives.

Add the home address on your visits page. It is stored protected and shown to the teacher only when the visit needs it.

Anyone who meets a student in person has a dated police verification on top of government photo identity. A teacher cannot be booked for an in-person class without it.

A passed check means it passed on that date. It is not a promise about any one visit.

• Your arrival code is on your home visits page. It is not on the first-visit sheet.
• At the door, the teacher checks in with that code on their phone. Read it to them only once they are at your door.
• Never send the code by message or call before the visit. TruTutor will never ask you for it.
• If the person at the door is not the teacher named on the sheet, do not open. Report it from your visits page.
• At the end there is a second code, the exit code, so the record shows when the class finished.
• For some visits the code is held by the TruTutor team, who confirm the arrival.

An adult must be at home for the whole class. After the teacher checks in, an adult has to confirm it within a short time, or the class does not start.

Report a concern from your visits page. A serious concern stops the visit at once.

Verification and codes lower risk. They do not remove it, and TruTutor does not claim they do. Use your own judgement, and tell us if something does not feel right.
