SAFETY
What actually protects a class
Four things, and we would rather name their limits than imply they cover more than they do.
The teacher is verified before they teach
Government photo identity for every teacher. A dated police verification for anyone who will meet a student in person.
- Verification cannot be bought. There is no tier that skips it.
- Online-only teachers are identity-verified but not police-verified. We say so rather than blurring the two — see verification.
The money is held, not handed over
- Payment is collected before the class and held by TruTutor.
- It reaches the teacher after the class has happened, not before.
The class happens in a room we set up
- Nobody has to exchange phone numbers or personal accounts to make a class work.
- Teachers never see payment details or private family information.
A parent stays in the decision
- Where a parent is linked, class requests go to them for approval before money moves.
- Parents can set a limit on protected spend and see all of it.
- A parent and student are linked by an invitation the other side accepts — not by one person adding another.
What this does not do
Safety claims are worth less than the honesty about their edges.
- Verification confirms identity and record. It cannot predict behaviour.
- TruTutor is not a counselling or clinical service. If a child is in distress, please contact a qualified service — and in an emergency, call 112.
