TEACHER VERIFICATION
What we check, and what we do not
Two tiers, decided by whether a teacher will be in a room with your child.
Every teacher
- Government photo identity, checked before they can take a class.
- The name on the account is the name on that document.
Teachers who meet a student in person
Anything in the same room as a child gets the stricter check.
- A dated police verification, renewed every two years.
- A teacher without one cannot be booked for an in-person class. Not "discouraged" — cannot.
Why online is not the same tier
Requiring a police verification for every online teacher sounds stricter and is mostly theatre: it delays teachers by weeks for a risk profile that is genuinely different. We would rather match the check to the risk and tell you exactly where the line is than claim a blanket standard we would then quietly bend.
What cannot happen
- Verification cannot be purchased, upgraded, or skipped by paying more.
- A teacher cannot present as verified while a check is pending.
A verification tells you what a record showed on a date. It is a floor, not a guarantee of conduct, and we will not describe it as one.
