How to become a TruTutor teacher
What you need, how verification works, how and when you are paid, and what TruTutor cannot promise yet.

What we ask of you
- Government photo identity, verified before you meet a student.
- A dated police verification if you will meet a student in person. It is not required for classes taught online. If you would rather not hand it over, you can teach online only; that is not a lesser tier.
- Verification cannot be bought, and no paid plan skips it. It does not rank you higher either. It is a gate, not a score.
How you are paid
Payment for a class is collected and held by TruTutor before the class happens. It is released to you after the class, against a report you have confirmed.
Your earnings screen separates what is held, what is eligible and what is paid. Tax is deducted at source where the law requires it, and it shows on the payout. A payout destination is verified before money moves.
For delivered teaching, the current rule is that the teacher keeps 70% and TruTutor keeps 30%. There is no listing fee and no paid placement. This is the current operating rule, and other offers show your exact figure before you accept.
How you are matched
Matches are made on subject, your verified delivery record, exam, availability, chapter, topic, language and mode. Price and platform fees are not factors, and a paid plan cannot change your position.
What we are honest about
- We cannot tell you how much work you will get. TruTutor has not run long enough to know, and anyone who quotes a number now is guessing.
- We have not published how long verification takes.
- We are starting narrow, one exam and one area at a time. If you join now you are one of the first.
- Teaching on TruTutor is free during the beta. Paid plans such as Teacher Pro are optional and do not change your ranking.
If a class has to be cancelled
If you cancel a confirmed class, the learner is refunded in full and you are not paid for it. A pattern of cancelling is reviewed by staff. Declining a request before you accept it does not count as a cancellation.
