How to choose a tutor
Start from the exact problem, read the reasons a teacher was matched, and use a short demo before you commit.

Start with the problem, not the subject
"Maths help" is too wide to match well. "Integration by parts, I keep losing the constant" is something a teacher can say yes or no to.
TruTutor asks you to describe what is stuck: the chapter, the kind of question, the thing that keeps going wrong. You can add a voice note or a photo of the question if that is easier than typing.
Read why each teacher was matched
Each teacher on a match list comes with the reasons they fit your request. Subject comes first, then the teacher's verified record of delivery, then exam, availability, chapter, topic, language and teaching mode.
Price and platform fees are not part of the match. Nobody can pay to appear higher.
- A teacher with no history yet is not given an assumed score. They can still appear, and the page says their record is new.
- You can compare teachers side by side before you pick one.
Check what "verified" means here
Every teacher is identity-verified with a government photo ID. A dated police verification is required for anyone who will teach in person.
Online-only teachers are identity-verified but not police-verified. TruTutor says so openly. A passed check tells you who someone is and that a check was done on a date. It does not predict how a class will go.
Questions worth asking before you book
- Does the teacher teach in the language your child is comfortable in?
- Is the class online or at home? If at home, read the guide on home tuition safety first.
- Does the open time fit your week? A slot is only confirmed when the teacher accepts it.
- Is this a one-off doubt or a pattern? The help ladder explains the five levels of help, from reviewing a single answer to a regular plan.
Try a short demo before you commit
A live demo lets you see the teacher's way of explaining before booking more. The demo guide explains how it works and what it does not cover.
If nobody fits
Sometimes there is no verified teacher for your subject, exam or city yet. TruTutor is early, and it shows you an empty answer with the reason instead of a padded list. You can leave your request open and be told when someone can take it.
